Second time staying at one of Jake’s properties Always a great experience!! Will only stay at one his properties from now on!

Pros: - Very responsive team - Beautiful location - Super comfy bed Cons: - Was not cleaned very well - There was only one remote for two TVs - The WiFi was not working throughout my visit. The team did try to address it with me, but we were not able to resolve it during my stay. These things happen, but when I inquired about a partial refund or credit with Airbnb & was told twice someone would give me a decision, I never heard back from them.

The apartment is very comfortable and in a great area of Pittsburg, worked very well for our stay in Shadyside. Jake made the whole stay very simple and straight forward. Would definitely rent this unit again.

It was a wonderful stay. It is a great apartment close great restaurants and bus stops.

Jake's place was as described. The apartment was clean and had everything you'd need to feel at home. It was peaceful and the bed was super comfortable. Which was a plus, as I was living out of my suitcase while being with my mom at UPMC during the day. As described, this place is on the third floor. The steps are carpeted, but a bit narrow.

Jake's place was most pleasant: quiet, clean, and comfy. Parking on the street was also convenient. A range of food at enjoyable restaurants is conveniently walkable. I will look forward to enjoying Jake's place and Pittsburgh again. Jake was a most responsive and thoughtful host.

Had a great stay at Jake’s place. It’s right in the heart of Shadyside and a block over from Walnut St. restaurants and coffee shops. There was a little issue with the door lock battery dying, and Jake was super quick to respond to my message and had it fixed in no time! If you’re looking for a home base in Shadyside, this is def a great option!

Very clean and comfortable. Jake's place in Shadyside was cool (I appreciate the AC!) and spotless. The beds, pillows, and linens were all extremely comfortable. The neighborhood is excellent, just two blocks from shopping and restaurants. Inside the apartment, the amenities were basic and no-frills but just as described (we hit the nearby coffee shops for coffee rather than use the bulk coffee and coffee machine provided). Overall, an excellent value.

As noted in the listing, the apartment is on the 3rd floor, which didn't bother us but could be prohibitive for some. Overall would definitely recommend.

We spent a week at Jake’s place while in Pittsburgh for a friend’s wedding. The apartment was perfectly located, clean, and comfortable. We had a lot of additional needs since we were traveling with a little one and Jake was extremely helpful and responsive throughout our stay. Would definitely visit here again!

The apartment is bright, cheerful and very spacious. It was also very clean and quiet. Jake and his team were great at communicating and very responsive—especially when we checked in to discover no water or Internet. His team was on the case immediately and even came by the apartment to check out the problems. Rebooting the router solved the Internet issue and the water mysteriously began to flow again—although it remained unpredictable for the rest of our stay with periodic low pressure and weak flow. Perhaps because apartment is on third floor so if others below are using, there’s less for the top floor apartment? The furniture was not high quality but was definitely serviceable. We’d stay there again—in spite of the steep two flights up. If stairs are a problem, this is not the place for you.

This bnb was fantastic! The location was perfect. Very walkable to restaurants and shops. The neighborhood is beautiful and was very lovely to walk in. I came to Pittsburgh to scout the area for a potential move, and I must say, I fell in love! Jake gave very clear instructions and everything was as described. The area was very quiet. I am a light sleeper and this is one of the few bnb’s I’ve stayed in where I slept through the night. We would be happy to stay again!

It was a great location only issues I had was how many stairs I had to climb and I pulled the couch out and it almost fell apart and it was very itchy that couldn’t sit on it but the bed was very comfy but the apartment is very narrow so if your a bigger or taller person probably best not to get this place

Unfortunately, Jake was unable to resolve issues with wifi that impacted the ability to work during our stay, but that was the only downside.

I had an great time staying here for a whole month! The apartment was spotless, had everything I needed, and is quiet and well-maintained. I was a tad worried about the cooking situation before arriving, but the apartment had everything I needed and I made some delicious meals here. The surrounding neighborhood is pleasant and easy to walk around, with some great restaurants and shops on Walnut Street. Street parking was always available on the block. This place is exactly as pictured and the location is unbeatable! Was in town visiting different universities for work and was able to walk everywhere. It was also super easy to get to/from the airport via a bus with stops less than a 5 min walk away. Felt right at home at home and will definitely stay again!

The location was walkable to the Walnut Street shop district of Shadyside. Street parking was sometimes challenging to find a spot near the apartment building and required a short walk. Three flights of stairs but Jake prepared me for that and it didn’t create any difficulties. Free laundry facilities were a plus.

Great apartment in a cool location. Close to the universities, museums and fun restaurants. Best feature IMO is the bed: wonderful mattress and deliciously soft sheets! The kitchen and bathroom have all the basics you need. There was an outage in Internet service for about a day or so because of a problem on the provider’s end. Jake made good efforts to update me on the situation. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a great place right in the middle of Shadyside—an awesome, walkable location! Definitely would stay here again. It’s an apartment on the third floor with steep stairs, which wasn’t a problem for us, but is something potential guests should know. Absolutely worth the price.

The best thing about this experience was Jake’s immediate and kind responses to the many, many questions I had from the moment I booked. He was never anything but helpful, understanding and kind. Everything was very clean. The King bed was very “hotel-like” and comfortable. While the listing is very explicit about this unit being on the 3rd floor and having many steps, trudging up two narrow and steep flights of steps is still a bit of an unexpectedly negative start to a trip - keep this in mind and pack lightly if staying here! It is also listed as sleeping 4 describing the living room couch as pulling out to a queen. It was not working for our stay, but even if it had been, it seems very small and flimsy to accommodate two guests unless they are two small children (which luckily, ours were!) It worked out fine for them but I wouldn’t sleep 4 adults in this space. However Jake was very apologetic and did have a backup of an air mattress and linens. Overall a great host!

Check in was simple and efficient, the apartment matched the description perfectly. The area around the apartment was very walkable, lots of coffee places and neat local restaurants. Plus it was conveniently located by the the aviary, museums, and zoo.

We stopped here just to shower and sleep for a night to break up a on a long drive and it had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy, we slept great, and the shower stayed hot even though I dallied a bit 😇 Jake was friendly and responsive, we especially appreciated the local recommendations. Our little family loves our stay. We had a 20 month old with us and traveled during a massive heat wave (95F+ every day). Jake turned on the AC so the apartment was nice and cool when we arrived. Despite it being the third floor the AC worked very well! Parking was easy to find. There were a bit of stairs but I didn’t bother us as we carried our daughter up in our arms. The neighborhood is super quiet but close to lots of shops and restaurants. We wish the weather was nicer so we could’ve walked more but will definitely stay again on our next trip!

Jakes place is in a great location by the sqft is small and the layout is very strange. no AC and the front yard smelled like sewage.

This place was perfect for us! Apartment was clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable and shower was good. Best part of it was the location. Apartment was super convenient to Pitt/CMU campuses. We could easily walk to great shopping, restaurants and bar in Shadyside - but yet apartment was very quiet! Second best thing was communcation from Jake. Jake's house was a great stay. I used to live in Pittsburgh and I can say with authority that the location for a quiet long weekend in the city doesn't get better than the heart of Shady side. Walkable to several iconic Pittsburgh eateries, two of the main college campuses, and great nightlife for both new grads and the alumni crowd. The place was easy to find, easy to check into, and Jake was an incredibly responsive host. I would stay again!

Great top floor location in the absolute best neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Anything you need is walkable, and street parking is plentiful. The apartment loft is perfect for two people, and is ideal for those wanting to immerse themselves into the whole Shadyside vibe. All the intangibles (toaster, Wi-Fi, coffee makers, tvs, dishes, glasses) were present and in working order.

A convenient location with easy street parking. There are small touches inside the home that made it comfortable and stress-free to live in. For example, a dim nightlight in the bathroom, soft lighting (as well as bright lighting) available in each room, and the dim lamp available in the bedroom. Each room had a side table right where you would want and plenty of storage (including hangers and luggage rack in the bedroom).

This apartment looked exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable, and the check in process was easy and efficient with Jake’s instructions. He worked within his housekeeping constraints to extend my checkout time by an hour, allowing me time to go to brunch with my best friend! The location couldn’t be better, just a three minute walk to tons of restaurants and shops. The neighborhood was generally quiet and felt safe, including while walking alone at night. Please take Jake’s advisory on the stairs seriously! They are steeper and more shallow than you’d find in modern buildings.

Jake’s place is great! We were in Pittsburgh for a weekend to go to a few Pirates games! It was close to everything by car and the neighborhood was walkable for our dogs! We would definitely stay here again!!

It was an amazing air bnb anyone going to Pittsburgh for the first should definitely stay at this place it will be worth it

Jake and his property manager, Chris, were a delight to work with. We booked the night before check-in after a miserable experience at the Airbnb we originally booked. Chris promptly communicated and made our stay in Pittsburgh much more comfortable. The apartment was easy to access. We traveled with our toddler and infant and had no issues with the stairs. The bedroom was perfect for our family. Both kids slept great with the provided sound machine and black-out curtains. Truly a great experience. Would certainly stay again.

We had a great stay at Jake’s place! Right in the heart of Shadyside, we had plenty of restaurants and shops to walk to. As far as the apartment itself, it was easy to access, clean, and had everything we needed! We, including our 8-week old and 2 dogs, slept great the bedroom which had blackout curtains and a noise machine provided. Wish we got to stay longer, but would definitely book again!

We really enjoyed our stay on Kentucky Ave. The area was very walkable - just a few blocks from Walnut St and about a 20 minute walk to Pitt/CMU or Squirrel Hill. The apartment was clean and comfortable and it was very convenient to have laundry downstairs. Jake was very responsive.

Great place to stay when visiting Pittsburgh. Just a block away from Walnut street in a safe neighborhood. The apartment was clean and comfortable.

The place is nice, location is also nice and street parking is easy. However, the floors need better cleaning, especially in the bathroom. There were dirt and old hair. While I appreciate the zero cleaning fee, I don't think it justifies inadequate cleaning.

We had a great time! The apartment is very comfortable. There's a nice TV with all the subscriptions, a well-supplied kitchen, and tons of useful plugs (regular, USB, usb-c, etc). Great location - easy to walk to charming restaurants and about a mile to Carnegie Mellon university, art museum, botanical gardens, etc. Side note - you have to get one of those almond cake bars from the bakery around the corner!

Excellent apartment in the heart of Shadyside - close to everything, including bus lines. Perfect retreat during a weekend getaway. Highly recommend.

Well managed and responsive host. The apartment was very spacious and in a quiet neighborhood with nice walkable area. The only thing that was missing for a summer visit was an air conditioner. The bedroom was a little too hot for sleeping. Other than, pretty good location!

Great stay in a lovely residential part of Pittsburgh. We stayed with 2 adults in the king bedroom and 2 children (4, and 8) on the pull out sofa. All was super comfy and a breeze.

Beautiful old homes on quiet tree lined streets all around. Great restaurants within walking distance. Spacious and comfortable. Loved the bed! Jake was a great host.

Great place, great communication with Jake, very clean, awesome location for walking to restaurants, shops, etc. Just know that the stairs to this third floor apartment are rather steep and narrow.

Jake was a great host! The apartment is in the attic of a house near Walnut St. The location is fantastic. The space is clean and well equipped. It’s a bit smaller than it looks in the listing photos but still functional. The location is this place’s greatest strength.

This is a hidden gem. The apartment is very comfortable and well-appointed. It is a challenge to be on the third floor for someone carrying large suitcases. You have to be careful going up and down the stairs. But beyond that detail, access to the place was easy. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe. The bed and pillows are amazingly comfortable. But what locks this place as my favorite place to stay while visiting Carnegie Mellon University is that it is only two blocks away from the commercial Shady Side Lane and a block from the nearest bus stop. I saved a lot of money using the Transit App versus my previous trips to Pittsburgh using Uber exclusively. You are able to take the 28x Airport Flyer whose bus stop is a block away from Jakes's apartment. I will definitely come back.

great location (just a couple blocks from bars, restaurants, and shopping) and super spacious and clean! would definitely recommend others to stay here if you are wanting a bit quieter of a Pittsburgh stay. street parking was also pretty easy for a weekend which is kind of rare in Shadyside

The space was clean and had everything I needed for the trip. It is super close to Walnut St which has many cool shops and restaurants. The neighborhood is also beautiful with unique architecture and housing. Overall parking wasn’t too hard to find within a block of the Airbnb at most times of the day. Jake was very responsive and helpful! Would definitely stay again!
